Shrimp and Ham Jambalaya

Ingredients:

2 lb. shrimp
1 cup diced cooked ham
1 onion, chopped
1/2 bell pepper, chopped
1 stalk celery, chopped
3 shallots, chopped
3 cloves garlic, chopped
3 sprigs parsley, chopped
1 bay leaf
1/2 tsp thyme
1 can tomato sauce (8 oz.)
2 cup water
1/4 cup shortening
1 1/2 cup raw rice
1 tsp salt
3 - 5 drops hot pepper sauce
Directions:
  1. Add onions, ham and shrimp to shortening and saute over medium heat.

  2. Add bell pepper and celery. Saute until limp.

  3. Add the rest of the ingredients and stir well.

  4. Cover and simmer over low heat for about 30 minutes. Do not stir during cooking.
